Director Sarah Steele
Before arriving at Hermitage in the summer of 2023, Sarah served as the Director of Bands and Choir at Madison County High School in Madison, Virginia (2020-2023) where she led the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Concert Choir. During her tenure, the Madison County High School Marching Band received Excellent ratings at the VBODA Marching Assessment, and the Symphonic Band received straight Superior ratings at the VBODA Concert Assessment. She also served as the Assistant Marching Band Director at Spotswood High School (2018-2019) in Rockingham County, Virginia. Sarah enjoyed performing in local ensembles in the Shenandoah Valley as a clarinetist with the Valley Wind Ensemble and the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra.
Sarah Steele is from Chesapeake, Virginia and currently resides in Richmond, Virginia. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from James Madison University. Mrs. Steele is a member of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association and the National Association for Music Education.
