Who?
We are Katie and Jeff, both long-time educators in central Ohio. Along with colleagues from our district, we will be heading up the new team for March Book Madness. To contact us, our email is: marchbookmadness25@gmail.com
We are excited to continue the great work done by Scott and Tony over the past 11 years, and we want to thank them for creating, organizing, and running March Book Madness. What started as a classroom project has developed into an annual reading event that has inspired countless students around the world.
March Book Madness is an online bracket-style tournament that matches books in one-on-one "games." These matchups will be decided by a simple vote on a Google Form (the forms do not collect any personal data). You can have students vote individually or you can have a class vote. After each round of voting, the bracket will be updated and the next round of voting will begin.
Typically books for each bracket are announced in October. This will give you time to think about how you might use the March Book Madness books in your classrooms. Sometime in January we will announce the bracket match-ups, with the actual voting being held during March. Champions in each bracket will decided on a date that is close to the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Championship game. Once the brackets are announced, more specific dates for voting in the rounds of the tournament will be listed.
All of the voting and brackets will be located on this website. However, we are encouraging chatter among participating classrooms on Instagram. We also will be using Instagram to make announcements about when the voting for each round is open as well as other news.
Why not?
