Marcel Punt (formerly known as Henrico Stewen) is appointed Organist at Vadstena Abbey Church in Sweden where he plays the monumental organ by Setterquist from 1933. Having studied with Jacques van Oortmerssen, Hans Davidsson, and Hans van Nieuwkoop, he graduated in 1997 with a Soloist Diploma in Performance of Organ Music from the Amsterdam Conservatory. In 2009 Punt received the Doctor of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. His doctoral thesis The Straube Code: Deciphering the Metronome Marks in Max Reger’s Organ Music has received worldwide recognition. In 2011 his CD with organ music by Max Reger was awarded the prestigious ECHO KLASSIK (see photos below).
