The lunch gathering was attended by new student researchers from the 2022 Chemistry cohort, along with members from the 2021 batch and several alumni of the group. Inauguration of the Research Collaboration Center for Electrochemistry
Semarang, 12-13 November 2024 – The Faculty of Science and Mathematics at Universitas Diponegoro officially inaugurated the Research Collaboration Center for Electrochemistry (PKR Elektrokimia) on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. The event was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics and marked a significant milestone in advancing electrochemical research in Indonesia.
The PKR Elektrokimia was initiated through a collaboration between Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), with the support of partner universities, including Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), and Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad).
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a public lecture delivered by Prof. Hadiyanto, who presented insights on the topic of electrocoagulation, emphasizing its applications and advancements in the field of electrochemistry.
On the following day, Wednesday, 13 November 2024, the event continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving PKR members. The discussion aimed to strategize and outline the next steps for the center in 2025, ensuring the achievement of all planned activities and outputs.
This collaborative initiative reflects a collective commitment to fostering innovation and addressing challenges in electrochemical research, paving the way for impactful scientific contributions both nationally and internationally.
Undergraduate Thesis Spotlight: Muhammad Ragil Saputra
Muhammad Ragil Saputra, a Chemistry student from the class of 2020, has successfully completed his undergraduate thesis titled "Optimization of Hypersaline Conditions in the Utilization of Halophilic Bacteria Bacillus clausii J1G-0%B as a Source of Electrons for Microbial Fuel Cells." This groundbreaking research explores the use of halophilic bacteria in hypersaline environments to enhance the performance of microbial fuel cells (MFCs), paving the way for sustainable energy solutions. His work highlights the potential of Bacillus clausii to convert organic sources into a viable electron source under hypersaline conditions, demonstrating its value in renewable energy research.

The Bioelectrochemistry Lab recently held a memorable dinner event to celebrate several significant milestones and achievements. The dinner, attended by members from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts, was a perfect blend of welcome, congratulations, and camaraderie. The lab warmly welcomed the new members from the class of 2021. The event also celebrated the academic achievement of Zahra Fauziah, who recently graduated with her bachelor's degree.
