Welcome

Bio

I was born and raised in Barcelona (Spain) and I am fluent in Spanish, German, Catalan, English, and Italian.

I received my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where I also completed my Bachelor and Master studies.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, I joined Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates, where I have held the position of Assistant Professor of Mathematics for 3 years. Before my trip to the Middle East, I had started a consultant position at an IT company, which I combined with teaching at different universities in Barcelona.

In January 2024 I started a more  research-oriented position at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, which I combine with teaching as an external lecturer at EAE Business School.

I am very interested in using applied mathematics to work on problems of industrial, physical, or environmental nature.

Besides mathematics, I am passionate about traveling (can you guess where I am in that picture?) and music, as I love to create my own music to make others dance. My first record was released in early 2024. Who knows, maybe I will make a career of it someday!

Current Position

Currently I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Environmental Mathematics group, led by Prof. Tim Myers, at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona, Spain. My current focus is on contaminant adsorption processes, I am interested in developing mathematical models to describe the simultaneous removal of multiple contaminants. As part of my responsibilities, I am tutoring several Master and Bachelor projects from students at U. Autònoma Barcelona.

Research Interests

The main focus of my research is currently on the development and study of mathematical models in topics related to climate change and environmental sciences. In particular, I am working on mathematical models to understand and optimize adsorption processes applied to contaminant removal and energy management of green roofs.

This research is developed as part of the activity of a larger international workgroup formed by researchers from various prestigious universities and research centres around the world, such as the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (Spain), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), Universitat de Girona (Spain) or University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). In line with these interests, I have been a member of the Climate Change Research Network, created by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE, for three years.

Specifically, my current research lines include:
