We have made wooden toys and game boards for many years, but always had difficulty finding varieties of marbles for our product. We wanted marbles that we had as children like Bumble-Bees, Cubscouts, Puries, and so on. In 1997 this "need" led us to the opening of the Moon Marble Company store. The store is located near the intersection of K-32 & Hwy 7 in Bonner Springs, KS. We stock machine made marbles in a multitude of colors and designs in sizes from pee-wees to 50mm. In addition, we carry traditional toys & games as well as gift items for all ages.

Artisan and owner Bruce Breslow frequently demonstrates his marble making. During demonstrations, Bruce will explain the process of glass working, marble history, and other fascinating areas of marble interest. We also exhibit and sell the work of several dozen prominent glassworkers from across the country.

In this note we present the increased prevalence of silicosis found in a marble factory after exposure to a new presentation of silica. A prospective, observational study was conducted on 11 workers who were exposed to different presentations of quartz surfaces since 1995. The jobs were divided into two groups: 4 subjects worked in the cutting workshop; the rest of the workers worked in assembly. Up to that date they had not used any specific respiratory protection apparatus. Six cases of silicosis have been diagnosed, which assumes a disease prevalence in this environment of 54.5%. Of the 6 affected, 5 (83.3% are assemblers. We highlight the high risk of developing silicosis in the handling of different products which make up the range of quartz surfaces.

Everything clicked into place for Andrews when, in 1977, he was introduced to "the deity" of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate, Sensei Morio Higaonna. It was to prove an unforgettable meeting. Sensei Higaonna, a humble master of Okinawan vintage with a gentle handshake, had fists that were hard and buffed like "something made of marble." And Andrews was so taken by the deadly appendages of Sensei Higaonna that he named his school after them.

Nonetheless, life went on at the Marble Factory Dojo until the building got destroyed by a fire in 1998 (it started in the garage down below). All that's left of the Marble Factory are the hand painted words on the back alley wall. When erecting the new luxury apartments that stand on the site of the dojo, builders found hundreds of unpolished marbles in the rubble.

Two materials can spawn in the Marble Cave, which are Tungsten and Petrified Trees, and is a Tier 4 & 5 Biome. Marble Cave is also one of the two biomes that is connected to the Lava Cave, the other being the Ice Cave. This biome is also the connector to the Electric Cave. The exact location and path for this cave can be viewed on the Map.

The Candoro Arts and Heritage Center is one of Tennessee\u2019s most unique treasures. Built in 1923, the Center\u2019s main building is the former showroom and office of the Candoro Marble Works, an historic East Tennessee company that was at one time the largest producer of Tennessee pink marble in the U.S.

McCullough may have to work his magic on the furnace, which has sat idle for months in Jabo Inc.'s tiny factory near Marietta. Jabo is the last marble maker in Ohio. McCullough hopes to produce up to 120,000 one-inch marbles for a group of collectors from across the United States and Canada.

In the first half of the 20th century, Ohio was the marble-producing capital of the world, with dozens of companies making millions of marbles for schoolchildren. But children don't play with marbles much anymore. Besides Jabo, there is only one other marble factory in the United States, in West Virginia.

McCullough said Jabo has been for sale for several years. He said it mostly produces industrial marbles for use in spray paint cans, oil wells and water purification equipment. It's rare that he gets to create marbles that people will see.

Steve Sturtz, a marble collector from Kingston, Ontario, who has written several books on the subject, is happy they do. He is one of several dozen collectors who will be at the Jabo plant to watch the molten marbles roll out of the furnace and take on different colors as they cool.

"No one makes marbles like David," Sturtz said. "He's an artist. His colors are incredible; he does things with marbles that no one else can do. We're just excited that he's going to make a one-inch run for us."

"The perception is better than the reality," McCullough said. "I just dump colors and other things into a vat of molten glass and hope pretty marbles come out. It's a lot of guesswork, and I am often surprised."

McCullough adds chemicals to the soupy, molten mass and watches what comes out. The color and pattern on each marble is always different and totally unpredictable. He said that when he tries to create a pattern, he fails. The marbles come out the way they want, he said, and like snowflakes, no two are alike.

The marbles that will be made Monday will be much larger than the typical marble. In the old days, these marbles would be called shooters. Because they are so much larger, only one of the company's furnaces, or kilns, can handle the job. They will be the first shooters Jabo has made since 2007, the last time the furnace was used.

"I like the collectors," he said. "I wish marbles were used by kids, like they used to. I still want to see the kids play with them; that makes me feel good. I like giving kids bags of marbles and watching their faces light up."

Our cast marble products are made with a precise mixture of locally-sourced ground marble, pigment, and polyester resin. The mixture is poured into custom-made molds that are designed and manufactured at our facility in Gainesville, Georgia. Once the marble has cured, it's removed from the mold, inspected, finished, and then placed into custom crates. The crates are then sealed and wrapped for protection.

Since 1977, Mincey Marble has remained the leader in cast marble by innovating, designing, and delighting commercial customers, while setting new standards of excellence. Our service and quality are unmatched. We offer the shortest lead times, and we manufacture our cast marble products right here in the United States. Plus, our design team is always prepared to customize to your specifications.

The Empire...

Did you know that a West Virginia company can make 1 million marbles a day? Well, they can!! Marble King, Incorporated, located in Paden City, West Virginia, manufacturers over a million marbles each day at full production capacity. Marbles are used to play the Game or Sport of Marbles, in Board Games, for Decorative Purposes, in Jewelry, in Architectural Projects and in many Industrial Applications. One Industrial Application for Marbles is in a Spray Paint Can. It's used to mix the paint. The rattle you hear when you shake the can is a marble! Special marbles are used in the Wine and Beer making processes.

The King is Crowned...

Berry Pink and Sellers Peltier founded Marble King in 1949. Pink was a successful businessman and loved to interact with children. The marbles sold under the Marble King header in the 30's and early 40's were actually manufactured by Peltier Glass. By the late 1940's, Pink was selling more marbles than Peltier could produce. They joined forces and formed another manufacturing facility in which Pink held the majority of shares. Berry Pink traveled throughout the country hosting marble tournaments and giving away several marbles at each stop. He became known as "The Marble King". That's how the company got its name when it was founded in December 1949.

The New Kingdom...

Marble King was originally located in St. Marys, West Virginia. In January of 1958 a fire destroyed the factory. Roger Howdyshell, who managed the Marble King facility, moved the company to Paden City where it still remains today.

Howdyshell was a very innovative man who left his mark on the marble industry in many ways. He led Marble King to the forefront when he manufactured the first American made Cat's Eye marbles. He also developed a process called "veneering" marbles. In this process, you could use less expensive glass as base glass and put a thin coating on the exterior surface to give the marble color.

An American Legacy...

In 1983, Roger Howdyshell bought Marble King. He had dedicated his life to the industry and truly loved it. He continued to operate the facility until his death in 1991. Today, Marble King continues to be owned and operated by the Howdyshell family. Marble King marbles are used in marble games, board games, decorative vases, spray paint cans and other industrial applications. Our marbles have been featured in movies like "Goonies", "Hook", and "Home Alone". Marble King continues to be the leader in marble production shipping its marbles worldwide. In 2000, Marble King received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting.
