Teaching
Narrative Medicine
I teach two selectives in the humanities: Narrative Medicine, typically offered in the fall semester, is an essay-writing class for future physicians. Audio Storytelling, in the spring semester, is a podcasting basics class that explores the use of audio narrative in medicine. We also offer a number of Narrative Medicine events throughout the academic year, including monthly workshops and an annual Story Slam.
Bridging the Gaps
I am the co-director of Cooper's Bridging the Gaps program, where I supervise a 7-week community health internship program each summer in Camden.
Center for Humanism
I am on the executive committee of the Center for Humanism, where I work on both curricular and extra-curricular projects around humanism and compassion in medicine.
Family Medicine Clerkship
I welcome third-year medical students to my clinic in Camden for clinical teaching in the family medicine clerkship, and I also advise students hoping to match into family medicine residency programs.
Scholar's Workshop Capstones
I supervise a number of student-led research projects, focusing on health inequality, community health, and use of mixed-methods research.
