I already import open street map Library(link of GitHub) in my application and it works completely (I used osmdroid + osmbonuspack)true , but i need to have my country map for offline mode . I used of mobile atlas creator for creating my Country map but mobile atlas creator doesn't allow me creating huge map.What i have to do ? I want to have maps like maps.me in my applicationplease help me , I am working at this more than 2 weeks .

We have used maps.me to plan road trips, hikes & even used it to navigate when we did an independent cycle tour of Cuba. The app details all roads & trails & has enabled us to get out there & explore some real off-the-beaten-path spots.

As well as using maps.me GPS feature offline we have found it great for things like long bus journeys, checking on the map exactly how far we are from our final destination or how far we are from the next town or city.

As mentioned above, we do not rely solely on maps.me when hiking, cycling, or on any other adventure. We plan our route on it, to give us an idea of where we are going as well as what facilities we can expect to find along the way then we carry out more detailed research.

I have been singing the praises of maps.me for years! We lived in Europe for 5 years and used it on every single trip. We used it for driving but also for walking through cities (think Venice where it is so easy to get lost). I have not found a better NO DATA map app!!

I read the great reviews about City Maps to Go. I downloaded it and have tried to work with it, but neither I, nor any of my friends (nor our children) can get a handle on it. Is maps.me easier to work with? If not, is there anyone out there who has figured out how to work with the city maps. I downloaded a map of Milan, but can figure out how to get it to show the streets level nor how to find directions from one place to another.

With Googles Map if you approximate the same area as maps.me for download, it will take almost 150 MB, which is 3 times as much memory. Another thing is if you down load a wide area some of the details are lost in the downloaded map compared to when you zoom in on a tighter area bfore downloading. For example if you make a download of southwestern bc and then download just downtown Vancouver and compare the two offline maps of the block where the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is located, there is a big difference in the details and the number of shops and restaurants.

I would rather not have to download a wide map and then a bunch of zoomed in maps under google and switch back and forth. With maps.me there is a single map file. The details are not as great as with a zoomed in google map, but i have found the details to be pretty darn good. Certainly, major attractions, hotes, restaurants and shops are there. Also, a nice feature is that the address numbers are shown in maps.me.

I'll also throw this out here. Last year in Havana, we were as OFFLINE as I've been for many moons. I had no cell service, and there was no wi-fi.* I used the Galileo app on my Android phone. And it worked brilliantly. I did have a paper map but it was missing some information, and didn't cover some areas we went to. We ended up relying on Galileo most of the time. I have no clue if it's better than maps.me, but it just worked, and I became the go-to navigator for our small group. One feature I liked was the "record" function, which when activated creates a record of where you've walked/driven.

I used maps.me on my trek to Everest Base Camp.

Started my trek from Lukla and had all my daily destinations bookmarked. So it was simply to go from one bookmark to the other each day.

This was a solo trek and planned to take 7 days from Lukla to base camp and 5 days back.

Maps.me never failed me in the Himalayas and I was so dependent on its performance and navigation. All the villages were clearly displayed on the map. It was flawless and made my trek so enjoyable.

What you have you tried to fix the problem?

The best technique I have found so far is to use the free and open source app maps.me. Here is a sample form that lets the user pick from destinations to visit and helps them navigate. If you'd like to try it, I recommend adding a destination not too far from where you are located because maps.me doesn't do so well providing directions between continents!!

@Nicholai_Lidow, you mentioned in your introduction that you also use maps.me for wayfinding. You mentioned using KML files for the destinations enumerators need to visit. Would you be willing to share a short sample form?

Like the others who commented before me, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Despite using the app before, I had forgotten to start off using maps.me from the beginning and had gone deep in Google mapping only to realize I might never have my map offline! This post was a total lifesaver.

I wanted to ditto the above. What a lifesaver. If you have saved bookmarks on google when you get to destined countryand no data and voila, vanishes. Now with maps.me i can actually see what i spent time writing. Xxxxxxx

THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG I spent so many hours over the last several years messing with Google Earth as a workaround or downloading offline maps within google and prepping the layer before hitting the road but these are both crap solutions because the apps automatically force quit after a long period of background activity and make you lose everything.
