Welcome to the Mao Lab
Laboratory of Genome Instability
Dr. Peng Mao is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque. He is a member of the NCI-designated UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine. His laboratory studies genome instability by focusing on DNA damage formation and cellular DNA repair mechanisms in yeast and human cells. Studies in the Mao lab aim to understand the interplay between DNA damage and repair at the molecular and genomic levels, and how the imbalance between DNA damage and repair impacts mutations and human carcinogenesis.
