Mao-Ching Chiu was born in Chiayi, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1968. He received the B.S. degree in electronic engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. in 1990, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1992 and 1996, respectively. From 1998 to 2002, he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Chi Nan University, Nantou, Taiwan, as an Assistant Professor. In 2002, he joined the Integrated Programmable Communications, Inc., as a Manager of the Algorithm Department. During this period, he focused on IEEE 802.11a/b/g baseband receiver design, especially on the design of equalization and decoding algorithms. Since August 2003, he has been with the National Chung Cheng University, Chiayi, Taiwan, where he is currently a Professor at the Department of Communications Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering. He was the Chair of the Department of Communications Engineering, National Chung Cheng University, from August 2011 to July 2014. His current research interests include digital communications, error-correcting codes, wireless networks.
