No, a researcher cannot be a part of multiple RTs.
Yes. Research Teams (RTs) may also comprise researchers from other disciplines. It is important that each team is associated with one experimental economics lab where they will collect the data.
To ensure that the data is of the highest quality, please only sign up if you are sure that you can complete all elements of the study in time.
In chronological order, we will ask RTs to submit the following throughout the course of the project:
design proposal
rating of other designs
collected data
responses to the lab panel survey
comments on the draft of the paper
In general, all members of RTs will become co-authors of the project and, as such, not be anonymous. Moreover, RTs will be linked to their design proposals in the final publication.
The Project Team will prepare a draft based on your proposed analyses and survey answers. Co-authorship will be offered to all members of RTs who completed all elements of the study (design proposal, rating, collected data, and response to the lab panel survey) within the timeline outlined.
RTs will be given 30 days to review the manuscript and make any comments.
RTs who do not wish to become co-authors or who do not want to be linked to design proposals may withdraw from the collaboration before the paper is submitted for publication. If they withdraw, they will not be listed as co-authors. Their anonymized design proposal, rating, and collected data will remain part of the paper.
No. Participation in the study requires a commitment to data collection. All participating labs must declare to collect the data upon joining the project, irrespective of which design gets chosen for implementation.
No. All primary and secondary hypothesis tests must be evaluated and analyzed using regression models as specified in the design requirements for experiments.
Yes, as long as your payment scheme adheres to the design requirement that participants should earn approximately €15 per hour, including a €6 show-up fee.
The exact number of observations to be calculated depends on the design selected for implementation. The exact number will be specified in PAP 2. Please make sure to suggest how many observations that your design requires when you are submitting your design.
Labs should only nominate an RT to participate in the study if they are confident that they can recruit up to 300 participants in ca. one month.
In case of ties, the selected design will be determined by a random draw among those designs that received the same highest ranking.
That is not a problem. Please keep the Project Team informed about your change in affiliations.
It is important that RTs ensure that they will retain access to the laboratory in which they plan to collect the data for the expected duration of the project.
If, during the IRB application, it becomes clear that, for getting approval, significant changes to the selected experimental design are needed, the next highest-ranked design proposal will be chosen for implementation.
Initially, after data collection, the data from each laboratory will be accessible only to the RT who collected it and the Project Team. RTs can use the data from their lab, but are prohibited from releasing, publicizing, or discussing their findings until the manuscript of ManyLabsDACH is published in a journal. After this period, the embargo will expire, and all data will be released in the project's OSF repository under a CC-BY license and will be freely available for public use.
Yes, after all data will be released in the project's OSF repository, it is freely available for public use as long as attribution to the creators is given under the CC-BY license.
Should any lab require funding support, they should contact the Project Team as soon as possible. Financial support can be provided to contributing teams only if the labs can issue an invoice. Unfortunately, the processes of transferring money for participant payments in the experiment are extremely slow and administratively complicated for both senders and recipients.
RTs may withdraw from the study at any time. If they withdraw, they will not be listed as co-authors. Their anonymized design proposal, rating, and collected data will remain part of the paper.
RTs may consist of one to three members.
You may freely communicate with other RTs throughout the study.
