The Stroke Club is a vital part of our work providing a social setting for stroke survivors as well as carers. It is an informal get together where members enjoy: speakers, entertainers, slide shows and video nights. To add variety, we often organise trips out, including a Christmas meal.
Isolation can be a depressing problem and the club is an ideal place to meet other understanding people in a similar situation. However, we realise that not all those affected by stroke can join in. In such cases we are still here to help in any way we can.
The Stroke Club meetings will be held at St. Anthony’s Parochial Hall (next to St. Anthony’s Church), Onchan at 2pm (unless otherwise stated). Island wide transport to and from events can be provided if required.
*Please note that to attend the Stroke Club you need to become a member (see below)
Members of the Manx Stroke Foundation have the opportunity to attend Stroke Club meetings.

This year, as we had lost our regular venue, the 29th Annual General Meeting was held at the George Hotel, Castletown. Prior to the business meeting, the 34 attendees enjoyed a complimentary meal.
The meeting was opened by the chair, Michelle Ferrer, who welcomed everyone to the 29th Annual General Meeting of the Manx Stroke Foundation. She then called on the President, Dr Thomas, to give the opening address.
Michelle was able to announce to the meeting that a new venue had been found and stroke club meetings will restart in July – this time on the second Tuesday of the month in the afternoon. Details will be given in the Summer Update.
The Annual Report and the Annual Accounts, which had been circulated prior to the meeting, were agreed. The trustees were re-elected onto the committee, including a recently appointed trustee, Lesley Hankinson. Michelle was elected as chair for the next year. Robyn was re-elected as treasurer and Maureen was re-elected as secretary. The trustees are as follows:
