I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna, working on the HYPOFAM project. Previously, I held a postdoctoral position in the Department of Sociology II at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) under a Juan de la Cierva contract awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
I hold a PhD in Sociology (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), a Master's degree in Methodology in Social Science Research (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and Bachelors’ degrees in Sociology and Political Science (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid). My doctoral studies were supported by an FPU (Formación de Profesorado Universitario) contract granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education. During my PhD, I was a visiting student at the European University Institute (EUI). As a postdoc, I have conducted research stays at the Social Science Centre of Berlin (WZB) and the University of Vienna.
Before pursuing my academic career, I worked at the Spanish Statistical Office (Instituto Nacional de Estadística) and the National Centre of Tropical Medicine - Instituto de Salud Carlos III.
My research interests include the study of educational expectations and transitions, inequality of educational opportunities, educational expansion, and educational policy. My work has been mostly published in leading sociology journals such as Sociology of Education, Social Forces, or Research in Social Stratification and Mobility, as well as education journals such as Higher Education, Educational Review, or European Journal of Education.
