My professional journey bridges the gap between educational institutions and real-world application. I advocate for a balance where life experience and academia influence one another—a concept I define as "InOutPractice.
Professor at the University of Malaga (UMA), (Spain). I have been Vice Rector of Virtual Campus and Educational Innovation at the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) 2019-2023, where we coordinated the construction of the Online Learning Model of Andalusia International (ELIA). Director of several university teacher training services at the University of Malaga (ICE -1994-98-, Educational Innovation Service -1998-2000-, Virtual Teaching -2000-2004-).
Internationally, I have acted as an advisor to the Distance Education System (SINED) and the Association of Rectors (ANUIES) in Mexico. Awarded with the "Orden de Puerto Ayacucho" for the projects developed in Amazonas (Venezuela) financed by AECID (Spain) and European R&D Projects. External evaluator in several evaluation agencies ANEP and other Autonomous Communities.
Currently, I direct the Globalization, Technology, Education and Learning (GTEA) (http://gteavirtual.org/) research group (SEJ-462), leading R&D projects in both national and international calls. My international experience includes research and teaching fellowships at institutions such as Harvard (edX, USA), Stockholm University (Sweden), University of Cologne (Germany), University of East Anglia (UEA, UK), and the Universities of Colima and Guadalajara (Mexico).
I have directed international Master's and PhD programs in Educational Technology at the University of Málaga, implemented in various contexts across Spain and Hispanoamerica (including Argentina and Mexico).
Erasmus research, collaboration and teaching stays at foreign universities: Edx Harvard (USA), Stockholm University (Sweden), Cologne University (Germany), Colima University (Mexico), University of East Anglia (UEA), Guadalajara University (Mexico)...
In the editorial field, I serve as the Editor of the Practicum Journal and I am a member of associations such as REDU (University Teaching Network) and REPPE (Association for the Development of Practicum and External Placements).
