How do I know when events are happening with the band?
There are mulitple ways and platforms that the band information is advertised. The band app (info on home page) is our main form of communication directly with parents and students. Big events like Christmas and Spring concerts are posted on our Facebook Page (Mannford Band of Pirates). Events are posted on the school website under the activities calendar. You can also find a schedule on the home page of this website as well. Middle School students also receive papers they are supposed to take home to their parents to let them know about events they need to be at.
How much does an instrument cost?
Instruments can be costly. Beginning instruments can range from $700-$3,000 depending on the instrument. We do rent to own programs through Saied, but there are many other options. You can get an instrument off of Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, or even other instrument websites. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN INSTRUMENT FROM AMAZON OR WALMART!!!!! These are cheaply made and will cost you more money in the end. If you cannot afford an instrument, we will try our best to provide one through our school inventory for your student to participate in band! Bigger instruments like Tuba, Baritone, French Horn, and big percussion instruments are provided by the school. (Beginning percussion kits are not provided)
Can my child join band if they did not start in 6th grade?
Absolutely! While it is going to take a little more work for them to catch up, we have had many instances where students join in middle school or high school and end up being very successful on their instrument! A little hard work and dedication goes a long way! We can also set up after school lessons that will help them catch up a little quicker!
