The spelling of “of” and “by” change after various suffixes as follows.

with a root letter that has no suffix, two options:

of =  -འི་  ་ཡི་           by =    -ས་   ་ཡིས་

suffix (when pronounced, all sound like “གི་  / གིས་”)

of = ག  ང       ་གི་       by = ་གིས་

of = ད  བ  ས   ་ཀྱི་       by = ་ཀྱིས་

of = ན  ར  མ  ལ    ་གྱི་      by = ་གྱིས་
