Where do I start?
The video lessons and articles here are designed with the second-language learner in mind.
If you have questions, you can write a comment on one of the videos.
After you have reviewed your objectives and evaluation strategy, read the culture and customs article so that you are prepared for when you enter cultural settings.
Speak dialogues aloud - doing this "shadowing" of the audio helps you to learn key sentence structures and new vocabulary in context.
Find a "language parent" - a native speaker or an advanced learner who you are motivated to talk to and feel safe and happy enough to practice regularly with. Maybe there is someone locally, but there are also plenty of language exchange sites as well as tutoring platforms like iTalki and Preply.
Make mistakes - don't be shy to communicate your own sentences in broken language and learn as you go. The mistakes and correcting them are what help pave the neural pathways to fluency. 🥰
Gather other resources - you may also want to start accumulating the books with accompanying audio that I have listed. It helps to shadow the native speakers to build up your muscle memory. For vocabulary guides, consult your teacher. If you don't have a teacher, then translation tools like Monlam as well as dictionaries like Phurba App or Christian Steinert will help but will take more time. I'm not currently taking on any more private students but you can look at Preply or iTalki or write to me to be added to my waiting list.
