Research

My research focuses on learning, optimization, and control for energy networks, centered on power systems, and extending to natural gas and water systems. Even incremental improvements in managing these vast and ubiquitous networks can yield tremendous financial, social, and environmental benefits. I leverage my experience in industrial practices alongside contemporary tools in optimization, control, and learning to develop implementable solutions with performance guarantees.

Most of my work has greatly benefited from interaction with a number of colleagues and advisors from multi-disciplinary backgrounds. I am fortunate to have collaborators across U.S. national labs (NREL, PNNL), premier academic institutions (Virginia Tech, Un. of Minnesota, Un. of Illinois Urbana Champaign, UC San Diego, ETH Zurich, UC Berkeley), and industry (Siemens, EPRI).
