As part of my Fall 2024 EDU 630 Technology/Coaching Leadership Course at Northwestern College of Iowa, I have been given the great opportunity to take participate in three different online tests for determining my personality type and how it can either negatively or positively impact my potential future role as a technology coach.

The 16 Personalities Personality Test
With their Multiple Intelligences & Learning Style Test, Psychology Today tasks its test-takers to mark down a bubble answer that best applies to them--either "Exactly like me;" "A lot like me;" "Somewhat like me;" "A little like me;" or "Not at all like me"--for 30+ posed statements (PsychologyToday.com, 2024, p. 1).
After the completion of this particular test, you will be able to view a quick snapshot report of your percentage-defined intelligence and learning style type with a thoroughly-detailed paragraph on the same (PsychologyToday.com, 2024).

(PsychologyToday.com, 2024)
With the completion of My Psychology Today Multiple Intelligences & Learning Style Test, I have been predominantly labeled by Psychology Today as a person of interpersonal intelligence--meaning that I enjoy being a "people-person" through my words and course of action (PsychologyToday.com, 2024). I strongly believe that with my interpersonal intelligence, I can aptly work in the capacity of a technology coach to bring my coachees a collaboratively positive and progressive support system that listens to their needs and finds and utilizes a diverse range of 21st Century technological resources and tools in the ever-evolving formal classroom setting and beyond. In the Percussion Ensemble Classroom, for example, my interpersonal intelligence works well in communicating with fellow percussion educators on fulfilling their ensemble repertoire, equipment, and literature needs that I can properly address based on their specific goals in providing their varying sets of students the best learning experiences and gaining of relevant skills possible.

For their Strengths/Weaknesses Test, Richard Step designates test-takers to answer a larger-than-normal set of 80+ statements with their best responses through clicking and selecting a dropdown-arrow menu response to the same: either "Disagree Strongly;" "Disagree;" "Undecided;" "Agree;" or "Agree Strongly" (RichardStep.com, 2024, p. 1).
Upon completion of this specific test, you will be then able to see a listing of your percentage-defined Top 5 Strengths as well as a full percentage-defined listing of your Other Traits along with your Bottom 1 Weakness (RichardStep.com, 2024).
***Please note: this test is more time-intensive compared to the other two noted tests.***

With the completion of My Richard Step Strengths/Weaknesses Test, I can now carefully observe and reflect upon my personal strengths, such as determination, faith, leadership, problem-solving, and self-motivation, as well as my most glaring weakness: strategic thinking (RichardStep.com, 2024).
While my lack of strategic thinking can absolutely hamper my chances of becoming a quality technology coach, I have the utmost confidence in myself to turn this documented weakness into a productive challenge that I can overcome using the sound advice provided by this very test--namely, I can use my determination to read up on strategic planning for the future and pace myself in mindfully thinking through posed questions--along with presented situations--and then taking the time to implement appropriate 21st Century technological knowledge, resources and tools for long-lasting faculty, staff and student use.

For their Personality Test, 16 Personalities has its test-takers mark down a varying range of agree and disagree bubbles to a small number of statements like "You regularly make friends" (16Personalities.com, 2024, p. 1).
Once you complete the test, 16 Personalities provides your Personality Type Results in the form of cool visuals and detailed paragraphs on the same. You will be thoroughly-labeled as either an Analyst (in the rational role of an Architect, Commander, Debater, or Logician;) a Diplomat (in the empathetic role of an Advocate; Campaigner, Mediator, or Protagonist;) an Explorer (in the flexible role of an Adventurer, Entertainer, Entrepreneur, or Virtuoso;) or a Sentinel (in the practical role of a Consul, Defender, Executive, or Logistician) (16Personalities.com, 2024).

After the completion of My 16 Personalities Personality Test, I am able to take great notice of my specific analyst personality type being that of a logician--meaning that I mainly enjoy doing things on my own in a tranquil manner as an introvert; that I try to come up with creative approaches and solutions to real-world problems as an intuitive individual; and that I try hard to find the logic behind doing things right as a thinker (16Personalities.com, 2024). On the other hand, the test results also display my tendencies to be a prospecting person (that gets things done more "on-the-fly" instead of planning them out well in advance) and a turbulent figure--which normally would not bode well for me were I to take up a coaching position in the very near future. While most folks would take umbrage from reading through such detailed analysis and ignore such writing to their personal detriment, I cannot help but be rightfully-challenged to improve upon these two particular negative personality traits of mine to transform them into strengths.
How do I do that?! 🤔
Simple: by prepping myself and my coachees to consistently communicate with one another on the timely preparation of 21st Century technological knowledge, resources and tools for our participating faculty, staff and students through meaningful assessment, evaluation and distribution. That way, my coachees and I can foresee any possible conflicts, pain points and stagnation events of any kind behind the scenes before such occurrences ever become cumbersome and problematic for all parties involved in public and private institutions.
