Mandela School of Science and Technology was built by Siemens in collaboration with Mvezo Development Trust and Department of Education.
The school was founded by Chief Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela, Mvezo Development Trust and funded by iemens South Africa Pty LtD and Siemens Stiftung (Germany ), a dream of Nelson Mandela who always wished for a Secondary school built in his village of birth when he met Peter Loscher ,Siemens CEO in 2010.
It was Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela who made the dream come true.
The school motto is "Education is freedom "inspired by one of Nelson Mandela's greatest quote " Education is the most important weapon you can use to change the world
Designed by Siemens with an input from local community.
It is taken from a traditional xhosa shield with the local flora split into three parts by a wind turbine .
The top section represents the village of Mvezo,.
The right sections represents the science and technology focus of the school
