About Me

An experimentalist trying to understand our Earth through compressing and heating 'rocks'

Man Xu

I am currently a postdoctoral scholar at GeoSoilEnviroCARS (GSECARS), The University of Chicago, located at the Advanced Photon Source, inside of Argonne National Laboratory. I received my Ph.D. in Geological Sciences in 2020 from Case Western Reserve University under the supervision of Prof. Zhicheng Jing (Now at SUSTech) and Prof. Jim Van Orman. My research focuses on high pressure and temperature (high P-T) experiments combined with state-of-the-art synchrotron techniques to determine the atomic structure and properties of Earth and planetary materials at extreme conditions, which in turn can help us better understand the evolution and dynamics of planetary interiors.

Please check my research page for more fun and fancy experiments that I performed! đŸ˜‰
