I love working with couples for their weddings and rehearsal dinners. It's such a special moment to cherish and remember for the rest of your lives together. I do all that I can to ensure that you have the best experience with my bakery as possible. I get asked questions all the time about baking for weddings and I wanted to list some FAQ's here for you.
1. How much do you charge for a wedding cake?
As amazing as it would be to have a set price list for wedding cakes, Mama H's Sweets & Treats specializes in custom wedding cakes and desserts in a one-on-one experience. I do not have a list of prices but evaluate every client's needs and designs and calculate prices based on hours of labor, costs of supplies and ingredients, and delivery (if needed). Once we get all of the details in place, I will work with you to create the best experience for you and your partner.
2. Can I just buy a small cutting cake from you and get big box grocery store cupcakes/sheet cakes?
When I send my product to an event, I am putting my energy into creating the best from-scratch, homemade products for you. That means that my name and brand is there and if my bakery name gets mixed up with the big box grocery store desserts too, my from-scratch, homemade baked goods reputation gets put to the curb. Now don't get me wrong, there is a time and a place for the big box grocery store desserts when budgets are tight and there's a lot of guests to feed. Please keep this in mind when ordering from me. I won't tell you no but I will be heartbroken if my reputation gets muddled from a mix up at an event and may affect any future orders with customers.
3. Do you offer Cake Tastings?
YES! Absolutely yes, EVERY TIME(unless you're getting married in Vegas next weekend.) Cake tastings are $50. Cake tastings include 3 flavors of cake and 3 flavors of frosting. This $50 goes towards the date reservation deposit so essentially gets waived when you sign the contract. Any additional flavors of cake, frostings, or the fabulous fillings are $5 each. I offer in-person tastings and to-go options as well.
4. Do you require a deposit?
Yes I do; after over 6 years of working with clients for weddings and big events, it is easier for all of us if we go by the book and do a 50% deposit on large orders, unless otherwise agreed upon (like if you're my best friend and I've known you since 7th grade.)
5. How far in advance should I order my wedding cake?
All wedding cakes must be ordered at least 2 months in advance of event. This allows us enough time to prepare supplies and decor, purchase necessary items and ingredients. Rush orders will be charged accordingly.
