Why is Shriner's Hospital for Children Important to us?
Grayson was born with several abnormalities in his left and right hands and arms. After attempting to get a plan of treatment from a local orthopedic office we were referred by our pediatrician to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
Shriners immediately made our family feel seen and cared for on a level we had never expected. You truly feel like their only patient when you speak with their staff and it is incredible and refreshing. With Shriners being a not-for-profit charity hospital there is never the feeling of being "another copay" or "just another number." When you are there you are truly part of a community.
Our doctor almost immediately had a plan of action in mind for all of Grayson's orthopedic problems after one visit. This past March Grayson underwent his first surgery with Shriners and the care that he received was amazing. Not only were they attentive to him but they were also incredibly receptive to our input as his parents when it came to his after-care. This is huge as the parent of a child with multiple medical issues. I know my child very well and to have my opinion not only respected but requested put my mind at ease. With at least two additional surgeries in the future, while having a child have a major surgery is never easy, we feel confident in the care that he will receive in the future.
The care Grayson has received since the day he first went through the doors at Shriners and our most recent visit has always been incredible and we will continue to spread the word about these wonderful facilities in hopes that we can help another family in need of care find what they need at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
