The story of Alfred Nix is is quite complicated and researching him has been difficult to say the least. So here goes....
Alfred Nix was born about 1877, and his birth was registered in March quarter of 1877 in Grantham registration district. Unfortunately his mothers maiden surname is not recorded. However, we can be reasonably certain that he was the son of Elizabeth Anne Nix. Elizabeth Ann was born about 1858, the daughter of William and Mary Nix. Elizabeth Anne Nix was married in June quarter of 1878 in Grantham district to Joseph Warrington.
In the 1881 census, Joseph and Elizabeth Warrington are with son Alfred who they have listed as Alfred Warrington aged 4, born in Honington, Lincolnshire. The family are living at St Andrews Road, Heckington, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
By 1891, Alfred is 14 years old, and is still listed as Alfred Warrington. He is with his mother Eliza A. and Joseph Warrington, and sister Florence M. Warrington aged 5 years. The family are living at Pointon Fen, Pointon, Bourne, Lincolnshire.
In 1901, Alfred (now listed as Alfred Nix), is aged 24, born in Honington, and living with his grandmother Mary Nix and his uncle William Nix at 109 Drove Lane, Osbournby, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
Sometime around 1905/6, Alfred appears to have been married to Elizabeth Watson nee' Haynes. (unfortunately no marriage record has been found).
The birth of Alfred's son George William Nix, was registered in September quarter 1907 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. The mothers maiden name was recorded as Haynes.
The birth of Alfred's second son Sidney Alfred Nix, was registered in December quarter 1908 in Sleaford, Lincs. Mothers maiden name was recorded as Haynes.
Sometime between 1908 and 1910, Alfred Nix and family had moved to Worksop in Nottinghamshire, as the birth of Alfred's daughter Florence Warrington Nix, was registered in June quarter 1910 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Mothers maiden name recorded as Haynes.
In the 1911 Census, Alfred Nix is recorded as a 34 years old Coal Miner, underground, born in Honington, Lincs. With Alfred is his wife Elizabeth Nix aged 33, born Regents Park, London. They have been married for 6 years. With them are children: Ellen Watson stepdaughter aged 10, Margaret Watson stepdaughter aged 7, George William Nix son aged 3, Sidney Alfred Nix son aged 2, and Florence Warrington Nix daughter aged 11 months. The family are living at 21 Harrington Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
The birth of son Arthur J. Nix was registered in June quarter 1912 in Worksop, mothers maiden name Haynes.
Alfred Nix was killed at Maltby Main Colliery, and his death aged 34 was registered in September quarter 1912 in Doncaster.

In the December quarter of 1914, Elizabeth Nix was re-married to Arthur L. Baker.
In 1921, Arthur Leonard and Elizabeth Baker are with children: George William Nix, Florence Warrington Nix, Arthur Joseph Nix, Leonard Robert Baker, Beatrice Elizabeth Baker, and Percy William Baker. The family are living at 66 Alabama Street, Plumstead, London.
Also in the 1921 Census, Sidney Alfred Nix, son of Alfred and Elizabeth, is living with his grandmother Elizabeth Warrington and her husband Joseph, at Glenside, Pinchbeck, Spalding, Lincolnshire.
