Purple Mentorship for Children (PMC) began its journey as MentorALadyNG in July 2016, with a vision to empower and mentor young girls in underserved communities. Over the years, our impact grew, and in December 2024, we expanded our mission to include both girls and boys, becoming Purple Mentorship for Children.
Today, PMC is a community dedicated to providing mentorship, education, essential resources, and life skills for children across Nigeria. We believe every child, regardless of gender, deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
I started Purple Mentorship for Children (formerly MentorALadyNG) because I saw firsthand how life-changing the gift of guidance could be. I saw people — especially young girls — in desperate need of support, direction, and a little hope. And I realized that even small actions could create powerful ripples in someone’s life.
I remember one moment that has stayed with me ever since. After one of our workshops, several of the girls pulled me aside, their eyes lit with excitement. They told me how the sessions helped them see themselves differently — as worthy, as valuable, as enough. For them, learning about self-love and confidence opened doors they hadn’t realized existed. That was the moment I knew that what seems small to us can mean everything to someone else.
There was another day when a girl quietly shared that she used to rely on rags during her period — until she started receiving monthly pad donations from us. She told me that simple change helped her show up in school with more confidence. It’s stories like these that remind me that mentorship and care go beyond grand gestures. They live in the everyday dignity we help children reclaim.
A Vision for the Future
As we grow, my vision is for PMC to become a safe space for thousands of children — a true community where mentorship, resources, and belief in their potential are abundant. I want it to be a launchpad, a sanctuary, and a promise that their dreams are valid and achievable.
This isn’t just about giving advice or checking boxes. It’s about walking with children on their journey, providing real tools that help them build their lives and futures. I want us to continue backing our words with action.
Why Mentorship Matters
To me, mentorship is not just guidance — it’s protection, opportunity, and most importantly, possibility. It can be the difference between a child who merely survives and one who thrives.
We are building something beautiful, and I invite you to walk this journey with us — whether as a donor, mentor, partner, volunteer, or simply a friend of this vision.
Every smile we see, every spark of hope in a child’s eyes, every sigh of relief from a grateful parent — that’s my why.
Thank you for believing in what’s possible.
