Mallard — Nicolas Raymond (doing business as njrapps)
This page explains how to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and how to delete your Mallard account. We act on these requests from users in any country, whether or not local law requires us to.
Open Mallard
Go to Settings → Account
Tap Delete account & cloud data
Type the confirmation word, then confirm
Sign in once more when asked, so that we can be sure it is you
What is deleted: your Mallard cloud account and everything synced to it — note backups, images, imported PDFs, audio recordings, and the details and transcripts of your videos. Video files themselves are never uploaded: they stay on your device, so there is no cloud copy of them to delete. This happens immediately. The 90-day grace period that applies when a subscription ends does not apply to account deletion.
What is kept: the notes already stored on your device. Mallard is local-first, so the notebooks on your device are untouched — only the cloud copies are removed. To remove the notes on your device, uninstall the app. We may also keep a small number of purchase-verification records and ordinary server log entries, which we need in order to prevent billing fraud, to reconcile purchases with Google Play, and to investigate faults.
Please note: deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. If you have a paid cloud plan, cancel it in Google Play or you will continue to be charged.
Before you delete: your device keeps its own copy of every note, but once the account is gone there is no cloud backup to restore from. If you later reset, lose, or replace the device, those notes cannot be recovered. Export anything you want to keep first.
If you chose to turn on crash reporting or analytics, those records are tied to an app installation rather than to your account, so deleting your account does not remove them. They contain no note content, no file names and nothing you wrote, and they are not linked to your Mallard account. They do carry an identifier for this installation of the app and the Internet Protocol (IP) address the report was sent from, which is why turning the switches off in Settings → Privacy is the way to stop them. Once turned off, the records already sent are erased on the reporting service's own retention schedule.
If you cannot open the app, email support.njrapps@gmail.com from the email address registered to your account, with the subject Delete my account.
Email support.njrapps@gmail.com using whichever subject line matches your request:
Access my data — a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correct my data — fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete
Export my data — your information in a portable format
Delete my data — deletion of specific information without closing your account
Withdraw consent — turn off optional crash reporting and analytics (you can also change this at any time in Settings → Privacy)
So that we never disclose your information to someone else, please send your request from the email address registered to your account. If we cannot match your request to an account, we may ask you for more information before we act on it.
We respond within 30 days. If a request is complex and needs longer, we will tell you before that deadline and explain why.
There is no charge for any of these requests.
You may complain to your local data protection authority. In Canada this is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
