I love art. Now saying that, I don’t mean a specific genre or type of art. No, I’m talking about all types of art, if it can be considered art in any way I’m interested in trying it. I’m not fond of everything I’ve tried. I’ve got my favorite mediums and my least favorite mediums. I do differ from the path of the artist; I have a passion for guiding and teaching others which led me to the decision of Art Education…plus I like all things art and I think it would be pretty cool to teach kids to love my passion as much as I do. I like to think of myself as a passionate and dependable young lady.
I have always been passionate about art, my mother tells me all the time about how I wanted to be an artist when I was little. I’m also inspired to be better at art because of my sister, Megan. Megan is always becoming more and more skilled at art. I sometimes look back and wonder what it would be like if my sister hadn’t pushed me with competitiveness to be better at art. The truth is whenever I think about that I can never imagine a realistic future I could see myself doing. Art is such a major part of my life. I would be a completely different person if I shoved art completely out of my life.
I mentioned earlier how I differ from the traditional artist path, I love teaching. When I was little, I remember playing school with my cousins and sisters. Back then, I played around a lot. I only seriously started considering being a teacher in 6th grade. My Literature teacher told us to seriously consider what we wanted to do in the future. I have gone back and forth and around I have now found my happy middle by going to Emporia State University for a major in Art Education. I believe this will keep me happy because I’ll be working in education and in art.
Throughout my high school career, I look back and see one defining feature. That feature is what I know and love as the art classes. I am very fortunate that Nemaha Central has so many different types of art programs. Because our teacher left during freshman year, I have gotten to see multiple different art teaching styles. I am proud to say that I am one of the few seniors in Art 4. To define this proudness, I always show people my projects that I have completed throughout the years. These are four years I hope I never forget.
At this point in my life, I have had a great time with my family and friends. I feel as if looking back on the last 17 years there should be a theme song playing softly in the background. I love who I am and I love my life. I may have a ton of interest in art, but the truth is, I hope I only progress. Even if it means leaving behind the art mediums and school I love.
