Pluto is a weekly peer support group for straight/queer, cis/trans men - run by survivors of sexual violence for other survivors.
We meet every Wednesday for 1.5 hours.
You can choose to listen and speak or just listen.
You can share as much or as little as you want, or share nothing.
First night
New member start dates happen throughout the year depending on demand.
New members will start together at the same time.
On your first night, the facilitators will lead some icebreacker activities.
Weekly format
We start by sharing how we are today.
Per night, we invite one person to share anything they want to about their story of survival while we just listen.
Once they have finished sharing, with their consent, the group can ask questions, respond or resonate.
Once everyone has had an opportunity to share their story (or pass) we create a list of topics related to survival. We choose one topic per night and share our ideas.
The name Pluto is also a nod to MARS; a male survivor group started and run by Dr Wendell Rosevear since 1993. MARS runs at Stonewall Medical Centre and Sexual Health Clinic in Herston every Monday night. Pluto stands on the shoulders of this group and acknowledges the work and support of Dr Wendell Rosevear that has made Pluto possible. Pluto follows a similar structure to MARS and welcomes anyone to use one or both of these groups.
Check out the MARS website to register your interest for their group.
Gestalt Therapy Brisbane has kindly donated the use of its rooms and facilities, giving Pluto a home. For this we are very grateful.
