Maleficarum 2011 15

    Maleficarum is a 2011 Bolivian drama, history and horror film directed by Jac Avila and starring Amy Hesketh and Mila Joya. The film depicts the torture and execution of two women accused of witchcraft by the Spanish Inquisition in Lima, Peru in the 18th century. The film is rated 15 for strong violence, torture, nudity and sexual violence.

    Plot

    Maria Francisca (Amy Hesketh) is a wealthy young heiress who lives with her friend Mariana de Castro (Mila Joya), a widowed Protestant, in a town where they are the target of gossip and envy. Father Francisco Verdugo (Roberto Lopez), the Inquisitor, has his eyes on Maria Francisca's properties and wants to get rid of her. He uses a street confrontation between a group of girls as a pretext to arrest Mariana and Maria Francisca and charge them with witchcraft.
