A seminar on 'Stress and Problems during College Days: How to Overcome'

Organized by Department of Botany and IQAC, Malda College on 9th August, 2019 at D K Sadan at 2.30 pm

Resource Person: Professor Anindya Kr Ray, MD (Psychiatry), Malda Medical College & Hospital, Malda

Seminar was inaugurated by the resource Person Professor Anindya Kr Ray, MD (Psychiatry), Malda Medical College & Hospital, Malda. Principal delivered his welcome address highlighting the necessity of the seminar of the college students. After that the resource person Dr A K Ray presented a presentation on the topic of the seminar in details. He tried to make the students understand about stress, types of stress and many aspects of stress and problems students normally faced during college days in a very easy to understand and befitting manner. After one hour lecture by the resource person an interactive session was started. Many students shared their personal problems without mentioning their name through a writing in a small paper. Dr Ray answered all the questions and suggested ways to solve the problems. After interactive session Principal emotionally announced that college authority is always with the students and help the students in any circumstances. Besides he requested all students to help their friends whenever they are in stress and inform to the college authority. Principal also shared the list of mentors with their mobile numbers and students were asked to share their problems on any matter from anywhere any time basis without any hesitation. Mr Pijush Kanti Saha, the anchor nicely managed the whole programmes. Seminar was ended with vote of thanks by the Convener of the Seminar Santanu Gupta, Assistant Professor of Botany & HOD

1ST SEM STUDENTS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2019

Organized by IQAC, Malda College on 11 July, 2019 at Durgakinkar Sadan at 11 am

At the very outset, Principal Dr Manas Kr Baidya delivered his welcome address. He welcomed and congratulated all newly admitted students for selecting Malda College. Principal, in his remarks suggested the ways through which the students can mould themselves through academic activities of the institution. Dr Akhileswar Prasad, IQAC Coordinator showed an elaborate powerpoint presentation about the college which involved college administration, facilities, physical and digital, ERP system, college android app, classes routine, examination pattern, feedback, NAAC etc. Mr Kousik Bhattacharya, the chief Guest of this programme delivered a thought provoking speech to the students. He pointed out certain recent crucial changes in higher education. He made the students aware about employability, skill enhancement, artificial intelligence which are changing the job market rapidly. He concluded by saying that all the stakeholders should give more emphasis on quality of higher education. Prof S Patra motivated the students through his simple yet very attractive speech. Some of the senior teachers like Dr Achinta Kr Chaterjee, Associate Professor of Physics, Prabhas Choudhuri, Associate Professor of Economics had shared their experiences about the college days.

About 950 students, some of the students' guardians along with teaching and non teaching staff of the college were present in this programme. The anchor of the whole programme Mr Pijush Kanti Saha, Secretary of Teachers’ Council managed this programme systematically and nicely. The programme concluded with a screening of college profile video at 1 pm.

Students got motivated, pleased and enriched with this programme. After this programme a "Students Information Brochure" was distributed among all students.
