Emeritus Professor in the Department of Linguistics of the School of Culture, History and Language in the College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University (what a mouthful!)

The main reason for establishing this website was to host my brief autobiography as a linguist. Before my retirement it was hosted on a personal page at the ANU, and it supplements my continuing page there, which usefully lists most of my publications since 2001. Some of these, along with some unpublished bits and pieces, are downloadable here, and my CV is close by. It contains a full list of publications. This site also includes a page on my ongoing research and files of Western Oceanic lexical data that were collected in Papua New Guinea in the 1970s and 80s when I was working on what became my PhD.
