iMatter Lab

In iMatter Lab, our research program seeks to develop and conduct innovative research in the area of intelligent materials that harnesses structures and interactions at the nanoscale and molecular level to achieve a unique combination of properties at the macroscale. We are particularly interested in exploiting multiscale functional materials through bioinspired design and innovative fabrication techniques for compact integration of multiple functions in a single component. This multidisciplinary research exists at the intersection of solid mechanics, electronic materials, nanotechnology, and additive manufacturing. Immediate impact of our research efforts are innovations in the development of multifunctional composites, integrated nanoscale devices, electronic skin, and stretchable biosensors.
