- David Byrd, Ph.D. Candidate, Georgia Tech. David Byrd is a research scientist and PhD student at the Georgia Institute of Technology focusing on machine learning for financial applications. In his PhD research with advisor Tucker Balch, he has investigated mutual fund portfolio inference, intraday equity market forecasting, stock market simulation, and machine learning approaches to the evaluation of market efficiency. As part of his PhD research, and to support AI research in interactive markets, David is leading the development of an open-source multi-agent equity trading simulation environment. In 2018 he won the Graduate Student Instructor of the Year Award in the School of Interactive Computing for his classes in Machine Learning for Trading and Introduction to AI. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, David spent several years as a software developer and manager at internet startups and in the telecommunications industry.

- Sameena Shah, Ph.D., Head of Data Science, S&P Global. Sameena Shah is a Managing Director and the Head of Data Science for S&P Global Ratings. Sameena is leading Augmented Intelligence, Ratings strategic program, and several initiatives to introduce data science methods and skills in how we operate. Previously, Sameena led AI strategy, research and development for Financial and News verticals of Thomson Reuters, where Sameena and her team were responsible for building and deploying several large scale AI systems. Prior to that, Sameena worked for several hedge funds, an asset management firm, a startup and Yahoo research in roles leveraging Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning for maximizing business objectives. Sameena and her team are award winning scientists who have won several best paper awards, industry awards and recognitions for creating various AI applications. Sameena has published about fifty papers in top AI conferences, holds more than ten patents and is a frequent industry speaker. Sameena holds a PhD in Machine Learning and Optimization that was judged the top PhD in the country for the year, and a MS in Computer Science, both from IIT Delhi and a BS in Electronics Engineering from Jamia Millia, Delhi.
