Both Mako Mermaids and H2O: Just Add Water deal with similar themes of characters having to balance the human world with the mermaid world, jealousy, and the idea of who is deserving of power. The Mako Mermaids season 4 finale brings the storyline of the show full circle, and it also ties back to H2O: Just Add Water with the inclusion of Rikki.
