Make Teaching Joyful is about exactly that: putting the joy back into teaching. It's time to make a difference and inspire others. It's time to give students what they need. It's time to make education a field that teachers want to go into and that students want to be a part of.
Joy is a fourth grade teacher in New England who has wanted to become an educator since she was a child. Through her own classroom experiences as well as research for various graduate courses, Joy has begun to truly see the many needs of education. Rather than cycling through negativity and burnout, she decided that it was time to put the passion back into teaching. Joy recognizes that the educational system needs to be updated in order to keep up with the changing world. Both students and educators need more time, resources, and empathy.Â
Through Make Teaching Joyful, Joy hopes to offer tips, resources, and opinions to help improve practices, promote wellness, and make a difference.
One of Joy's biggest goals is to spread awareness and use of social emotional learning. She believes that all students need to be guided by their teachers in order to grow into respectful and responsible citizens. Particularly now, in a post-pandemic world, students are still struggling to age-appropriately socially and emotionally develop. "It's time for teachers to stand up and speak out if we want to make this profession better for ourselves and for our students. We can't keep waiting for somebody else to do it."
