I am an aspiring Health Services Management professional with a Bachelor's degree from the Fairbanks school of Public Health at Indiana University Indianapolis. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a deep commitment to making a positive impact on the communities I serve. As a future leader in healthcare, I aim to contribute by enhancing the lives of those in my community. Whether it's by supporting colleagues, patients, or local residents. I strive to have pride in the work that I do, and I am driven by a desire to foster environments of care and support. One of my long term goals is to play a role in implementing programs that improve community health and well-being. I am deeply inspired by leadership that advocates for others, promotes equity, and prioritizes empathy and integrity. These values guide my aspirations and will continue to shape my approach to health services management.
Why Health Services Management
I chose Health Services Management because it is at the core of healthcare, influencing not just patient care but also the systems that support it. I am passionate about making a difference in patient-centered care, but I also recognize that healthcare doesn't only happen at the bedside or in an outpatient setting— it happens behind the scenes. The work done by managers, staff, and administrators is crucial to ensuring that healthcare systems run smoothly, and I believe it's just as important to care for employees as it is to care for patients.
When I first came to college, I started as a pre-nursing student, knowing I wanted to work in healthcare but unsure of all the possible paths. Health Services Management opened my eyes to a variety of career options within the healthcare system. This field offers the flexibility to pursue a clinical-facing role, a non-clinical role supporting staff and organizational development, or even opportunities outside of healthcare. The broad scope of this degree allows me to wear many hats and make a meaningful impact in different areas, from patient care to organizational improvement. I'm glad I chose this career path, as it has opened many doors for me to contribute to healthcare in diverse and impactful ways.
