How to Make a Website in 2021
To make a website follow these steps:
1. Choose a domain name
Domain name is the website address like www.example.com. You can choose any domain name which is available.
If you are targeting Internation Audience choose generic domain like .com, .net, org.
Country-Specific domain extensions like .ru, .au, .de can be used to target visitor from your country.
2. Sign up with your web hosting provider
If you have already decided the domain name of your website, let's set up the web hosting.
In this tutorial, we are using Bluehost to set up a website. You can use other hosting providers like Siteground or Hostgator.
Step 1: Visit www.bluehost.com and click on Get Started.
Step 2 : Select your Hosting Plan. You can go with Basic plan if you want to host a single site with low traffic.
Step 3: Now search for the Domain name availability in "Create a new domain" Section. This Domain name is free for the first year.
Step 4: Fill Your account Information and Payment details. Click the submit button.
3. Set up a website with WordPress
After Registration Process is complete, We have to install WordPress on this hosting account.
Step 1: Login to your Bluehost Account.
Step 2: Click on My Sites and then click on "Create a site" button.
Step 3: Enter the basic information about your site.
Step 4: After the automatic installation is done. Bluehost will provide login details of your Wordpress Website.
4. Install SSL/HTTPS on your Website
SSL provides security to a website. It adds Lock Icon beside your domain name in web browser.
Bluehost automatically adds SSL when we create a new website.
To check the status of SSL certificate follow the steps below
Click on "My Sites" on Bluehost Account.
Click on "Manage Site"
Go to "Security" Tab.
Under “Security Certificate", check free SSL status.
5. Customize the website design with a theme
Login to Wordpress dashboard at yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
Go to Appearance>Themes>Add New. And choose from the thousands of free themes.
In this tutorial, we are installing Astra Theme. It is a multipurpose theme which can be used for a Business Website, a Blog or an eCommerce Store.
Search Astra, Install and Activate Theme.
Go to Plugins>Add New, search starter templates. and Install Starter Templates Plugin.
Go to Appearance>Starter templates. Select Elementor Page Builder.
Choose Template for your Website
Click on "Import Complete Site"
Go to Home Page and click on edit with Elementor.
Now you can edit the website and add your own text.
