This website is dedicated to the advancement of AP Statistics teaching. AP Statistics is an applied mathematics course, the nature of the subject provides teachers the opportunity to teach students to enjoy and love math! It also is a great opportunity to incorporate technology and teach students communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. In order to achieve this valuable learning opportunities teachers need access to the resources, activities, and lessons. The ultimate goal of this website is to organize and provide resources for new and veteran teachers of AP Statistics.
As a math and education major, I was required to take one Statistics class in my entire undergraduate education. When I was asked to teach on-level Statistics (Not AP) I was overwhelmed and under prepared. I was also the only on-level Statistics teacher on campus, I had no assistance and no resources but the book to build my course. Although it was stressful that first year, and the first year I took on AP Statistics, I have come to love this subject! It is by far the most interesting and fun class that I have taught, it's also nice to teach a math class that students don't hate. What I've learned is that many Statistics teachers are forced into this teaching role the same way I was, they don't have resources or support. I wanted to create a website that provides Statistics teachers a way to feel like a part of a community and organize some of the fun activities they could be doing. This website will organize links to activities, applets, and other website to utilize.
