I’m Makayla M. George — a writer, director, and producer with a passion for telling stories that feel real, raw, and deeply human. My work blends grounded drama with moments of levity, often exploring the beauty and complexity of Black experiences, relationships, and identity.

I’ve been creating since I was young, inspired by my grandmother’s and dad's love for cinema and storytelling. Over the years, I’ve developed a voice rooted in authenticity, cinematic tension, and emotional depth. Whether I’m directing on set or writing late into the night, my goal is always the same: to craft narratives that stick with people long after the credits roll.

From projects like Polar Mind — born from a place of resilience and independence — to co-directing Thumbs Up! at UT Austin, I’ve embraced both the artistry and the logistics of filmmaking. My experience spans writing, directing, producing, and collaborating with diverse teams to bring bold ideas to life.

I’m drawn to stories that challenge, entertain, and resonate — and I aim to keep building worlds and characters that spark conversation, shift perspectives, and leave an impact.
