In this German-language podcast episode, I talk about how elected politicians perceive economic inequality and how they make decisions about redistributive policies. The episode introduces the project “Political Elites and Inequality”, for which more than 700 members of German state and federal parliaments were surveyed. It also looks at where politicians’ and citizens’ views on inequality align — for example in their support for stronger redistribution within the public pension system.

"More in common than we think? What citizens and members of parliament consider so fair."
In this article for the In_equality magazine, my co-authors and I discuss how citizens and elected politicians evaluate the fairness of social policies. Drawing on the project “Political Elites and Inequality”, the article looks at pensions, inheritance tax, tuition fees, and childcare fees — and asks where citizens’ and politicians’ views on redistribution align or differ.
