Main Theek Hoon ("I'm fine") is a mobile application designed to help users maintain daily safety check-ins and notify selected emergency contacts if a check-in is missed for an extended period. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly in accordance with applicable laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).
By downloading, installing, or using the Main Theek Hoon app ("App"), you agree to the collection, use, storage, and sharing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1) Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum personal data necessary to provide the App's core safety check-in functionality.
Data You Provide Directly:
Your Profile Information (during onboarding): User Name.
Emergency Contacts (up to 3): Name and Mobile phone number— selected from your device's contact list with your explicit permission OR can be added manually by the user.
Data Collected Automatically / With Permissions:
Device Permissions — We request (and you must grant for full functionality):
Access to Contacts — to allow you to select and add emergency contacts easily.
Location Services (optional but recommended) — precise or approximate device location, collected only when you enable it and used only at the time of a missed check-in alert (to include in the SMS to contacts).
Notifications — to send daily check-in reminders.
SMS (if applicable) — to send automated alert messages via SMS gateway.
Usage Data — Timestamps of your daily check-ins, last check-in time, missed check-in periods, device information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version), and basic analytics (e.g., app opens, crashes) for improving reliability.
No other data such as photos, messages, call logs, browsing history, financial details, or unnecessary sensors is collected.
We do not collect sensitive personal data (e.g., health, religion, caste)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data solely for the following purposes:
To create and maintain your user profile.
To enable you to add and manage emergency contacts.
To send daily push notifications/reminders for check-in.
To detect missed check-ins (3 consecutive days) and automatically send an SMS alert to your chosen emergency contacts. The SMS includes:
A message indicating you have not checked in.
Your name.
Your last known location (if location permission is enabled and recent data available).
To improve the App (bug fixes, performance, no user profiling or advertising).
To respond to support requests or legal obligations.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
We share data only as strictly necessary:
Emergency Contacts — Their name and phone number are stored on users Device itself. Therefore stays on the device and is private to that install.
SMS Services — SMS is sent to emergency contacts from user's SIM/Carrier. No external Service providers or Centralized servers.
Legal Requirements — If required by law, court order, or government authority in India.
No data is shared with advertisers, marketers, or unrelated third parties.
4. Data Storage and Security
All personal data is stored exclusively on your device. We do not use any external servers, cloud services, gateways, or third-party backend storage. Your profile information (name), emergency contacts (names, phone numbers), check-in timestamps, and any location data (if enabled) remain entirely local on your Android.
No data is transmitted or synced to us or any third party under normal operation. The only outbound communication occurs when you miss check-ins for 3 consecutive days: the app directly sends an SMS from your device to your emergency contacts using the device's built-in SMS capabilities (no intermediary servers or gateways are involved in routing or storing the message).
Location data (if you enable it) is accessed and stored only on-device. It is included in the SMS alert only at the moment of sending (if recent and permitted), and never leaves your device otherwise.
Retention — Data is retained on your device only as long as your account/profile exists in the app. When you delete your account or uninstall the app, all associated data is removed from your device (subject to Android's standard app data cleanup). We have no access to or control over this process.
Limitations — While we take reasonable steps to protect data on-device, no mobile app storage is completely immune to device-level risks (e.g., physical loss/theft, malware, or unauthorized access to the device). We recommend using device-level security features like screen lock, encryption, and keeping your OS updated.
5. Your Data Control
Since all your data is stored only on your device and never sent to us or any servers/Cloud or 3rd Party apps
You have full control — edit/delete anytime via app settings.
Uninstalling the app removes all data from your device.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn of such data, we delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes posted here with new "Last Updated" date. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
