An African jewel, the black pearl from Guinea. This is how Maimouna Diallo, the protagonist of the biography signed by psychologist Andrea Silveira, can be considered. The book is about the life trajectory of a woman who faced the adversities of her time and her culture to overcome two great enemies: prejudice and the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
The book is an invitation for other women to become protagonists of their stories and to change our society. The narrative is simple, objective, and unforgiving, it invites us to reflect on our role before the reality of people living with HIV/AIDS in Africa and elsewhere.
If the reality portrayed in this book seems distant from the context of other countries, a closer look will show many common points about the role of women in the world.
Read, reflect, share with your contacts. Make a difference in the lives of people whose trajectory is similar.
