MailBrief Privacy Policy

MailBrief is a Chrome extension that summarizes Gmail email previews and helps users prepare reply drafts.

Information handled

MailBrief may handle the connected Gmail address, email subjects, short email previews, sender information, Gmail authorization data, user-provided Gemini API keys, and reply instructions entered by the user.

How information is used

Gmail information is used only to provide requested summaries, email filtering, source links and reply drafts. Selected subjects and short previews are sent directly to Google Gemini when the user requests AI processing. Reply instructions are sent to Google Gemini only when the user requests a reply draft.

API keys

Users provide their own Gemini API key. The key is stored locally in the user’s Chrome profile and is not sent to a MailBrief server. Only a masked portion of the saved key is displayed.

Data sharing

MailBrief does not sell user data or use it for advertising, profiling, credit decisions or lending decisions. MailBrief does not operate a server that stores Gmail content.

Gmail permissions

MailBrief requests read-only Gmail access. It does not send, delete, modify or permanently store Gmail messages through the Gmail API. MailBrief never sends an email automatically.

Data retention

Email previews, summaries and reply instructions are kept only temporarily while the extension is being used. Users can remove their Gemini key and disconnect Gmail through Settings.

Third-party services

Google Gmail API and Google Gemini process data according to Google’s policies and terms. Users should review Google’s privacy policy and Gemini API terms.
