Veronica Hugger, founder of Mah Jongg! Galveston, will teach the Summer 2026 session:
Tuesdays, April 28 – May 26 (no class May 19) | 10:00 – 11:30 AM
This welcoming class is designed for anyone who wants to start fresh with American Mah-Jongg or start again with a clearer understanding. Whether you are brand new or have played before but felt unsure of the rules, this class gently walks through the game step by step.
We’ll cover the tiles, basic table setup, how a game flows, and how to follow the card at a comfortable pace. Questions are encouraged, and there’s no pressure to remember everything at once. The goal is to understand the game well enough to enjoy playing.
This class is perfect if you:
· Are new to Mah-Jongg
· Have played before but want a reset
· Feel unsure about rules or procedures
· Want a relaxed, supportive learning environment
Please bring the 2026 NMJL card to the third class session and all subsequent sessions.
Tuesdays, June 23 – July 14 | 10:00 – 11:30 AM
This follow-up class is for players who know the basics and want the game to feel easier, smoother, and more natural. We’ll focus on playing through hands with less hesitation, reinforcing common rules, and answering the “when do I…” and “am I allowed to…” questions that often come up during play.
You’ll receive guided practice, gentle reminders, and plenty of time at the table so you can stop second-guessing yourself and start enjoying the flow of the game. This class is about comfort, clarity, and confidence, not competition.
This class is perfect if you:
· Have taken Beginner Mah-Jongg I: Learn the Game
· Know the basics, but still ask rule questions while playing
· Want to feel more comfortable playing with others
· Would like the game to feel more relaxed and enjoyable
Please bring the 2026 NMJL card to all the class sessions.
