ABOUT THE MADISON COIN CLUB
The Madison Coin Club has been active since 1932, and is the longest running coin club in Wisconsin! The Madison Coin Club is also an active club member of the American Numismatic Association (ANA).We are scheduling the second Tuesday of the month for our live meetings and the third Wednesday of each month for the zoom meeting. The goal is to have some consistency every month. We start at 6:00 PM with our Executive Committee Meeting, which is just the club officers conducting the business of the club (all members are welcome to observe). We then begin our all-member meeting at 6:30 PM, which include a new member education segment, a program or presentation. And then, we typically end our in-person meetings with a social hour; some also use this time to buy/sell/trade with other members. The Madison Coin Club hosts two shows a year (spring and fall), as well as a summer picnic, and winter holiday party. The Madison Coin Club currently has over 165 active members!
Incorporated and Tax-Exempt
The Madison WI Coin Club is officially incorporated as a non-profit organization and tax exempt! We received approval from the IRS to become a 509(a)(2)organization, one of the organization types that is tax exempt and tax deductible under section 501(c)(3). This means we no longer have to pay sales tax on things like the hotel convention hall rentals, bus trips, and events!
While the standard deductions have significantly increased recently, donations to the club may be tax deductible if you are able to itemize your deductions. You are not allowed to deduct anything for which you receive a product or service (e.g., you cannot deduct your membership dues or fees paid for bus trips), but general donations may be deductible (e.g. you would like to support lowering the cost of the bus trip overall, or paying for others to participate in the bus trips, or unrestricted monetary donations). Please talk with Brian or Jason before making any donations. Documentation of donations may be provided upon request however, the club will not provide any valuations of donations.
