Research Activity 3 helped me better prepare for my future work because I was forced to think about how easy or difficult it may be to reach my participants. The participant group largely depends on whom you do and do not have access to. From this activity, I also learned to narrow my question to a more specific issue. From my question regarding the university's distance from home, it was difficult to narrow my question from "Why do students choose a college close to home?" to "What influences a student to chose a college close to home, and how does being close to home affected his or her experience at college?" I found that although it is easy to find more research on a broader topic, it is difficult to find similar research. A more specific topic ,surprisingly, makes it easier to find information about what you are looking for.
