The Madison Art Club seeks to be an asset to the community, and in return we are aided by generous funding from the community and the art programs within the state. We are dedicated to making Madison a prime location for fine art in Indiana. Madison is a magnet for tourists, drawn by the rivers and hills, the beautiful architecture, the history, the small town charm and the hoosier hospitality! Many tourists enjoy visiting art galleries and attending art festivals. In addition, the existence of an art community, along with the picturesque landscape and architecture, encourages artists from all parts of the country to make Madison their home. We are proud to play a part in making Madison a thriving community!
Annual Regional Show. The Art Club produces this show every Fall. Artist participation has often exceeded 100 regional artists and has proven to be a very popular public event. Local schools bring their students in to visit the gallery exhibits.
Art On Main Gallery & Gift Shop: Members may sell their artwork at the club gallery. The Art Club is a not-for-profit organization, and display space is available to members at very low rates.
Educating the artist: Art classes are conducted at various times during the year by professional artists. We also enjoy painting together informally and talking about how to improve our artwork. At club meetings, members frequently give demonstrations of their media and techniques. You might even see a media production on a period of art history, story of a past artist and their works, or just enter a discussion of how to's on the business of art.
Social activities: We are always looking for new ways to educate and entertain our membership. We have planned art retreats, a winter social dinner, summer picnic, museum field trips, painting workshops, and plein-aire painting trips.
