The trail starts at Levada do Alecrim, in the area of Rabaçal. Follow the course of the levada until you get to a detour to the path that will take you to Lagoa do Vento.
Turn left on the path and start to descend. From here the path radically changes and you start walking in the heart of nature. The floor is sometimes irregular and can be slippery, so caution is advised. Immerse yourself in the natural surroundings and enjoy a completely different and unique walk!
Enjoy the panoramic views from the several viewpoints than you find along the trail.
Continue down until you reach the magnificent lagoon Lagoa do Vento. The immensity, serenity and beauty of this lagoon make of this place an inspiring place! Here you will find yourself at the top of the Risco waterfall.
When leaving the lagoon, walk toward the house Rabaçal, where you can rest and relax for a while before climbing an alternative path, which will take you until the end of this walk, in Rabaçal.

This trail in particular, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful in Madeira. You can continue the path by Levada Nova, although it is important to know that there are several areas with abyss and no protection, so is not recommended for inexperienced hikers.
The return is made by the same route, arriving back at the Church of the Lombada

Nach einigen Kilometern gehen Sie zum Strand hinunter und genießen Sie die Ruhe und das frische türkisblaue Meer der Südküste. Nutzen Sie die Gelegenheit zum Schwimmen und kommen Sie frischer und erleichterter zurück.

From this belvedere it’s possible to contemplate the many peaks of Madeira Island, from which stands out the highest: Pico Ruivo (1861m) and Pico do Areeiro (1817m). Pico do Gato, Pico das Torres and the well-known Penhad’Águia also constitutes part of this breathtaking scenery.
This place it’s also ideal to bird watching, since there is a huge variety that nicely greets visitors of this belvedere. Between this nice little creatures stands out the Firecrest, the Chaffinch, the Grey Wagtails, Blackbirds, Robins, Buzzards or the very rare Madeira’s long-toed pigeon.
The way back is made through the same way but don’t think that you saw everything yet. One of peculiarities of the Madeira’s levadas is that each time you visit, there’s always new findings, experiences and sensations that will make this activity unique.

From here towards the Porto da Cruz the difficulty of the path is very. The trail is made by the hillsid overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean, in a narrow path with no protection, so it is recommended only for experienced hikers.
