Madalina Olteanu

Professor in Applied Mathematics and Data Science

Université Paris Dauphine PSL and CEREMADE

Since September 2020, I am a professor of applied mathematics and data science at Paris Dauphine University PSL, and  member of CEREMADE research center.

Starting with September 2022, I am also in charge of the Master Program Digital Economics, together with René Aïd

Together with Fabrice Rossi and François-Xavier Dudouet, we are organizing a monthly interdisciplinary seminar on prosopography, mixing sociology and data science approaches.

As a part of a long-term collaboration with the Mathematics Department in Universidad de la Habana, I am involved in a cooperation project with Cuban colleagues.

Previously, I was associate professor in applied mathematics (maîtresse de conférences) at Panthéon Sorbonne University and member of the research team SAMM (Statistique, Analyse et Modélisation Multidisciplinaire).

My current research interests are mainly focused on the study of spatial and temporal patterns in complex data, and particularly in humanities and social sciences. The techniques I use and investigate are related to time series analysis, Markov-switching models and change-point detection, feature selection in unsupervised learning, and self-organising maps.
