Madagascar is considered part of southern Africa

It is an Island in the Indian Ocean east of Mozambique

There are mountains in the center of the island with the highest mountain in Maromokotro at 9,435 ft

The coast line of Madagascar is very tropical

Inland is milder in temperatures

The south is very dry while little to no rain

Madagascar also has tropical rainforests

Madagascar is home to 5% of the world’s plants and animals

80% of which are native only to Madagascar 

Many of these species are threatened or endangered because of deforestation and development
